Kim Blum, UW-L deputy director of athletics, will be UW-L’s interim director of athletics, effective July 7.
Blum replaces Josh Whitman, who accepted the position of director of athletics at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
Whitman's last day at UW-L will be July 3. Blum will serve as interim director of athletics for the 2014-15 academic year. A national search for a full-time athletic director will begin in early 2015.
Blum is in her 10th year at UW-L. She served as associate athletic director for nine years and then became deputy director of athletics in 2013-14.
"I have incredible confidence in Kim's leadership capacity and in her unwavering commitment to UW-L Athletics," said UW-L Dean Paula Knudson. "After a decade of working with our systems, coaches and student-athletes, Kim is well poised to step in and sustain the momentum of our programs. She understands the multiple dimensions of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC), and our 19 sports."
