About 1,975 new, incoming UW-L freshmen will arrive on the UW-L campus during seven days in June for Freshman Registration and Family Orientation.
The one-day program will be offered: June 9, 11, 13, 16, 18, 20 and 23.
During the program, incoming freshmen and their families receive information about attending UW-L. New freshmen also get academic advising to assist them in selecting their first-semester courses.
Students and their families will learn about aspects of college from the importance of a liberal arts education to how to get a parking permit or sign up for a meal plan.
The information provides students the preparation needed to become successful first-year students, and helps families learn how to support them throughout the process, says Kara Koerner, admissions counselor at UW-L.
“Our goal is to assist students and their families in creating a smooth transition to college,” she says. “We appreciate the campus community coming together to help make Freshman Registration and Family Orientation a great experience for incoming students and their families.”
UW-L’s freshman enrollment target for fall 2014 is 1,975, which is similar to fall 2013 when new first-year student enrollment was 1,990 — the largest freshmen class since 1986.
