A total of sixty students from Rufus King Middle School in Milwaukee came to campus to learn what college is all about.

A total of sixty students from Rufus King Middle School in Milwaukee came to campus to learn what college is all about Monday, July 7 - Thursday, July 10.
Among other activities, students toured campus, experienced classes led by UW-L faculty, met members of the marching band and stayed overnight in residence halls. They even traveled off campus to see city sites including Grandad Bluff and Riverside Park.
It’s the fourth year Rufus King students have come to UW-L.
“We continue to partner with Rufus King Middle School and Rufus King High School in Milwaukee because of the focus they place on preparing students to be successful college students,” says Corey Sjoquist, UW-L director of Admissions. “In addition, recruiting students from Rufus King High School is part of the university's long-term plan to increase diversity on campus.”
Virgil Ward II, admissions counselor, did an excellent job coordinating the events when the students were on campus, notes Sjoquist.
