The UW-L Wind Ensemble will hold a special summer outdoor concert to celebrate the country’s independence on Sunday, June 29.
The UW-L Wind Ensemble will hold a special summer outdoor concert to celebrate the country’s independence. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 29, on the lawn of Lindner Forest, just west of Graff Main Hall.
The ensemble, along with community musicians, will perform a program of Americana music to celebrate the Fourth of July later in the week. The Wind Ensemble is directed by J. Thomas Seddon.
Some of the selections will include: “Variations on ‘America’” by Charles Ives, “Shenandoah” by Frank Ticheli, “America the Beautiful” by Samuel Augustus Ward, “Porgy and Bess Selections” by George Gershwin and “Star Trek” by Michael Giacchino. The concert will conclude with John Philip Sousa's “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”
Those attending should bring chairs and blankets for seating. The rain site is Annett Recital Hall in the Center for the Arts. Admission is free, but those attending are encouraged to bring a canned food item to support local food banks.
