Posted 11:13 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026

UWL faculty have been recognized for their efforts to support students inside and outside the classroom.

Instructors honored for outstanding teaching, advising, mentorship

UW-La Crosse is home to many outstanding instructors who make a difference in students’ lives inside and outside the classroom.

This year, UWL’s Provost Office received hundreds of nominations from students hoping to recognize their favorite faculty. From these nominations, a university committee selected six faculty to receive 2026 Eagle Teaching Excellence Awards.

Recipients were highlighted in Campus Connection stories throughout the summer. If you missed any articles in the series, they have been collected here:

UWL also recognized Victoria Calmes, Global Cultures & Languages, with the 2026 Eagle Excellence in Advising Award, and John May, Chemistry & Biochemistry, with the Eagle Research & Creativity Mentoring Excellence Award.

Learn more about UWL's Eagle Excellence Awards on the Academic Affairs website. Select "Recognizing Excellence" in the page menu.
