Band to perform at youth band championships
The UW-La Crosse Screaming Eagles Marching Band is heading to the Twin Cities to perform this weekend.
The band will perform at the 13th Annual Youth in Music Band Championships Saturday, Oct. 14. The day-long competition for high school bands runs from 8:45 a.m. until 10 p.m. at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Youth In Music Championships spotlights 26 high school bands in competition for Class Championships, The Minnesota State Championships and The Youth In Music Upper Midwest Championship. Five other bands, including UWL, will perform in exhibition. The others include North Dakota State University Goldstar Marching Band, UW-Eau Claire Blugold Marching Band, The Marine Band from New Orleans and the Rosemount Alumni Band.
There are two sessions of competition during the day. Session 1 starts at 9 a.m. and features all 26 high school bands in competition for Class A, AA, AAA, AAAA championships. Only the Minnesota bands are competing for their respective state championships in four classes. The Screaming Eagles will perform at 11:30. Session 2 at 7 p.m. features the four class champions, plus the six next highest scoring bands competing for the Youth In Music Upper Midwest Championship trophies.
