Crews are wrapping up exterior brickwork outside and renovations inside of Wimberly Hall.

Crews are wrapping up exterior brickwork outside and renovations inside the building, which are both functional and aesthetic, says Matt Lewis, UW-La Crosse executive director of Facilities, Planning and Management.
Workers replaced deteriorated bricks and sealed up joints in various spots on the building’s exterior. Main walkways to the north and south entrances of the building were also replaced. Pavers were added to the concrete sidewalks in a pattern similar to stadium walkways, giving the campus a more cohesive look, says Lewis.
Rooms 135, 136 and 138 Wimberly Hall were remodeled to accommodate a new College of Business Administration dean’s office. Other rooms, including lecture hall room 102 and a large classroom, 112, were remodeled and new technology was installed. Most of the rooms were updated to a technology level of “3 +,” says Jim Jorstad, director of UW-L’s Academic Technology Services. This typically means a touch panel control, video projection, audio reinforcement and a teaching podium. It also generally includes a podium computer, access for a laptop, wired and wireless network access and, at times, a document camera.
Centennial Hall classrooms have freed up more space inside Wimberly Hall, which means classrooms will no longer be overcrowded, says Lewis. Crews redistributed some new furniture throughout the building and got rid of outdated furnishings. Also, three rooms, 312, 315 and 310 Wimberly Hall, were repurposed for an archaeology lab.
This summer the Cleary Alumni & Friends Center also received a makeover with new carpeting and paint inside. Plans are also in the works to update the technology to a 3 + level in the Cleary Center’s Strelczyk Great Hall.
