"Fun, engaging, and informative seminar about consent."
On October 21, 2025 the Peer Health Advocates joined Violence Prevention for Mike Domitrz's presentation "Can I Kiss You?". This interactive presentation balances humor and serious reflection to teach students about intimacy, consent, and respect. As PHA Declyn reminds us, "it is so beneficial for students to be educated on these important topics and how to be a supporter for survivors and their friends, family, and peers because it makes for a better community at UWL". PHA Hannah adds that it was an important event "because of its emphasis on how everyone deserves respect because they are human". UWL students shared their thoughts too:
- "An infortmative and engaging speech about informed consent"
- "Emotionally moving and encouraging change!"
- "Fantastic, well spoken and worthwhile"
- "It kept me engaged and it truly matter[s] to be more informed on this topic"
- "No matter who you are this session is a way to improve how you act in difficult sexual situations."
- "Very cool, worth it"
- "Very informative about consent topics that aren’t talked about often"
Talking openly about consent helps us foster a safer community and take steps to turn words into action. PHA Jill notes that these lessons are "important to learn because though the concept of asking for consent can be easy, we don’t always know how to ask!" The presentation provided strategies for facilitating conversations about consent, conversations that are crucial in making campus and everywhere else a safer place.
Wellness & Health Advocacy and Violence Prevention extend deep gratitude to the students who attended "Can I Kiss You?". PHA Declyn shares that "as a peer educator, other students being knowledgeable about these important topics makes us feel supported in our work, and helps us support more students!"
You are not alone.
