Recruiting Participants for a Research Study

Recruiting young (18-35 yrs) and old (50 – 70 yrs) men and women to participate in a resistance exercise study

Purpose

The goal of this research project is to better understand how age impacts the vascular, fatigue, muscle damage and recovery responses to resistance exercise.

 

Researchers

Faculty and students from the Exercise and Sport Science and Biology Departments at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse

 

What will you be asked to do?

3 Total Visits all in Mitchel Hall:

  • Screening and Familiarization visit
    • Measure body composition
    • Measure 5-RM for the leg press
  • Acute resistance exercise test with next day follow-up
    • Venous blood draws, measures of force output and vascular function

 

What you receive

  • Health screening data including body composition, glucose and cholesterol

 

Eligibility

  • Young (18-35 yrs) and old (50 – 70 yrs) women and men who regularly participate in resistance exercise including the lower body
  • Are free of chronic heart, lung, kidney, and autoimmune diseases
  • Have no restrictions on participating in rigorous exercise
