Group Work That Works

NOTE: This workshop is part of CATL's Core Curriculum workshop series, topic: collaborative learning.

DescriptionGroup work, whether in the form of in-class activities or team projects, can increase engagement and foster community in our classes. However, results can be uneven when it comes to learning. Within the same class, some groups or individuals seem to thrive while others report frustration. What are students learning in their groups? We will review evidence-based learning strategies and discuss how we can use them to design and refine collaborative activities and assignments. Participants are invited to bring a group work activity or assignment for discussion.
