Urban nature, wealth, and implications for green infrastructure

Dr. Bonnie Keeler from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs will give a talk focused on urban nature and environmental justice. It will draw on her community-engagement work for the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metropolitan Area Long Term Ecological Research Program. The project studies how urban residents interact with urban nature, and how the benefits and burdens of urban nature are not experienced equally by all. The goal is to better understand urban ecosystems, to improve environmental outcomes for all residents.

Dr. Keeler will also discuss opportunities in MS and PhD programs for students interested in public policy, environmental justice, and ecology.

The talk is a great chance to learn how environmental science intersects with public policy, social justice, recreation, public health, and land-use planning. Students and faculty from all majors and disciplines are encouraged to attend, as are members of the La Crosse community.
