Careers in Intelligence Panel

Check out opportunities with the NSA

Internships and Language Study Programs with the National Security Agency

Ever wonder what it is like to work in the intelligence community?  Considering a career using your world language skills? Not sure what is out there?

Join NSA language representatives for an exciting look into the world of Signals Intelligence! Our nation is seeking U.S. citizens who are highly proficient in Mandarin Chinese, Russian, and other critical languages. Not proficient yet? NSA also has language cross-training opportunities! Following a panel discussion highlighting the various employment paths into language analysis at NSA, you will have the opportunity to ask questions about “Why NSA?” daily life as an analyst, work-life balance, and more. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear from those currently working in the intelligence community! (Note: U.S. citizenship required for NSA employment)

Panelists:

  • Justin K. – Justin learned Arabic in college after growing up on a farm in California. He was hired by the NSA for his Arabic skills and is currently the NSA/CSS Senior Language Authority.
  • Salini N. – Salini, a heritage speaker of Tamil, joined the Air Force after college and was sent to the Defense Language Institute to learn Chinese.  After her military service, Salini transitioned to a civilian Chinese language analyst at NSA and is currently the director of the Language Analysis Skill Community.
  • Jenny W. – A Wisconsin native, Jenny majored in Spanish at UW-Milwaukee and was hired by the NSA to learn Chinese. Now Jenny serves as the Language Outreach Lead in the NSA Senior Language Authority Office.
  • Emma R. – Emma is a recent graduate of the Language Analyst Development Program at NSA.  She studied Chinese and Korean in college and participated in two Summer Language Program college internships. Emma is excited to share with you what’s next.

This is an open and free event for students who may be interested in internships, language study, and careers in US intelligence. Applicants must be US citizens, and students of all disciplines are encouraged to join.
