UWL Music Honors Recital

UW-La Crosse’s Music Department presents its annual Honors Recital, featuring performances from seven student musicians on Sunday, April 7 in Annett Recital Hall, Lowe Center for the Arts. The recital will be followed by a reception. Admission is free and open to the public.

The 2024 program features features: Ann David (junior, flute) performing Sonate pour flûte et piano by Francis Poulenc; Jonathan Heck, (sophomore, trombone) performing Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Concerto for Trombone; Andrew McDonald (junior, piano) performing Sergey Prokofiev’s Visions fugitives, op. 22; Madeleine McDonald, (freshman, mezzosoprano) performing Christoph W. Gluck’s O del mio dolce ardor and Samuel Barber’s “The Crucifixion” from Hermit Songs, op. 29; Colin Miller (sophomore, baritone) performing Shubert’s Ständchen, D. 889 and Roger Quilter’s Weep You No More; William Murphy (junior, piano) performs Beethoven’s Sonata no. 21 in C Major, op. 53, “Waldstein”; and Jacob Spredemann (sophomore, alto saxophone) performing Bach’s Partita in A Minor, BWV 1013.

Every year, students are selected through a competitive juried process to perform at the annual Honors Recital as a way of recognizing students for their achievements in music. The department will also recognize Maggie Ferrando and Leo Imhotep Chavolla Barrera as this year’s recipients of the Thomas Annett Outstanding Senior in Music Award.

A reception will immediately follow the recital. Both recital and reception are free and open to the public, and no reservations are required. Visit uwlax.edu/vpa for more information.
