UWL Symphony Orchestra Concert

Reveries

The UWL Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Martin I. Gaines) performs in Annett Recital Hall on Sunday, December 8 at 2 p.m.

A reverie is described as a state of being pleasantly lost in one’s thoughts, such as in a daydream. The opening piece played by the orchestra at 2 p.m. by Katahj Copley, Equinox, plays on brass melodies that soar above percussive-like timbres produced by woodwinds that give an impression of racing in the sky through clouds, allowing the mind to wander. Other 21st century composers on this program include Eric Whitacre and Viet Cuong. In the spirit of the holidays, the orchestra finishes with an arrangement of music from the 2004 Christmas film The Polar Express.

The Lowe Center for the Arts is currently adjacent to a major construction project for a new parking ramp. Please visit uwlax.edu/vpa/parking for more information. This concert is free and open to the public, no advance reservations required.
