UWL Art presents Yours Truly, an art exhibition for graduating art majors showcasing personal vision, reflection, and transformation. The exhibition opens on Friday, November 21 with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. outside the gallery.

As the capstone of their UWL art experience, the exhibition is the product of Professional Practices and Senior Exhibition, a course led by Professor Joshua Doster, which, he explains, “supports students in the final stages of their undergraduate art education, helping them establish artistic goals and develop the professional skills necessary for success beyond their university experience.”

Over the course of the semester, students designed, curated, and installed their own group show. “The heart of the course,” Doster says, “centers on providing students with real-life experience, allowing them to create their own group exhibition in the UWL Art Gallery.” That includes everything from writing artist statements and producing promotional materials to organizing public artist talks and professionally documenting their work.

The resulting show, Yours Truly, stands as a deeply personal and diverse reflection of each student’s artistic voice — a declaration of ownership and individuality at the threshold of their professional lives.

Artists whose works appear in this exhibition include Gracie Acklam, Sarah Hermann, Harbor Rain Kerby, Cameron King, Kailey Peterson, Brooke LaPlount, Trinity Rietmann, Charlotte Schofield, Kylie Stelter, Brielle Thompson, Sarah Volden, Amy West, Avery Wilson, and Allison Zawistowski.

As part of their exhibition experience, featured artists appear in four separate artist talk sessions. For a chance to hear the artists speak about their work, a select few appear each day on December 1, 3, 8, and 10 in the gallery from noon to 1pm.

Entry to the gallery and all associated events with this exhibition are free and open to the public. For more information, visit uwlax.edu/vpa.
