Boren Information Session

Language, Culture & Service

Curious about studying abroad, learning a new language, and launching a career in public service that contributes to national security?

Join us for an engaging information session on the Boren Awards—a unique opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to gain funding for immersive language study in regions critical to U.S. national security.

The Boren Awards, an initiative of the Defense Language and National Security Education Office (DLNSEO), support up to a year of overseas study of critical languages in overseas destinations all over the world. Unlike many other programs, Boren does not require prior language experience for most languages. So, even if you’ve never studied a language before, you may still be eligible!

Whether you're just exploring your options or already planning your application, this session will walk you through the program’s benefits, eligibility, and application process.

Awards for the academic year are up to $20,000, $10,000 for a semester, and $8,000 for STEM students for the summer.
