The UWL Department of Music and School of Visual & Performing Arts will present acclaimed pianist Dr. Lindsay Garritson in a solo recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, February 19, in Annett Recital Hall, Lowe Center for the Arts.

Recognized for her technical brilliance and expressive depth, Garritson has performed throughout the United States and internationally at venues including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Place des Arts in Montreal. She has appeared as soloist with major orchestras and is an award winner at several international piano competitions.

Garritson’s program features masterworks from the Romantic and contemporary piano repertoire, including: Liszt’s Ballade No. 2 in B minor; Schubert’s Sonata in G major, D. 894; Tchaikovsky’s Dumka; Carl Vine’s Toccatissimo; Rachmaninoff’s Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor; and Liebesleid by Fritz Kreisler (arr. Rachmaninoff). Together, these works showcase the piano’s expressive range, from lyrical intimacy to virtuosic power.

Dr. Garritson holds degrees from Principia College, Yale School of Music, and the University of Miami. She has collaborated with leading chamber musicians and served as collaborative pianist at the Ravinia Festival’s Steans Institute from 2018 to 2025. Her Carnegie Hall debut featured the world premiere of Carl Vine’s Piano Sonata No. 4, written for her. She is currently a visiting assistant professor of piano at the University of Central Florida.

This recital is sponsored in part by the UWL Visiting Scholar & Artist Grant and reflects the Department of Music’s commitment to artistic excellence and professional engagement. The concert is open to the public. For more information, visit uwlax.edu/vpa.
