Javier Portillo

Join the Menard Family Initiative (MFI) in welcoming guest speaker Javier Portillo. During his time on campus, Javier will discuss DUI laws and participate in an alcohol-focused panel alongside local wedding venue owners and members of the Tavern.

Dr. Javier Portillo is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration, where he holds multiple endowed professorships. For the 2025–2026 academic year, he is also a Visiting Affiliated Researcher at Chapman University. His research focuses on public economics, law and economics, and experimental economics. He earned his PhD in Economics from Florida State University in 2017.
