Creating Connections

Using improvisational skills to communicate effectively about health topics

One way to improve community health is to build a healthcare workforce that can communicate effectively with a diversity of audiences. The Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science at Stony Brook University provides virtual sessions that combine social science research, communication strategy, and applied improvisation to help participants build, deliver, and adapt effective and accurate messages. We invite students, faculty, and professionals who are passionate about health care - and communicating about health-related topics - to join us for this interactive workshop. Alda Center will facilitate the session via Zoom, and participants will be introduced to new skills and techniques through group exercises during the session. This session is sponsored by the UWL Segregated University Fee Allocation Committee (SUFAC), the La Crosse Medical Health Science Consortium, Western Technical College, and UWL Graduate & Extended Learning.
