Dialogue Matters

Bridging Voices @ UWL

Bridging Voices at UWL is an interactive dialogue experience designed for incoming first-year students as part of New Student Orientation. Held on Labor Day in Centennial Hall, this program introduces students to the importance of respectful communication, active listening, and engaging across differences as members of the campus community.

Throughout the event, students will participate in short, facilitated conversations led by alumni of The Discussion Project (TDP). These small-group dialogues provide opportunities to practice sharing perspectives, asking questions, and navigating disagreement in constructive ways. The goal is not to debate or reach consensus, but to build confidence in communicating thoughtfully and contributing to a welcoming campus environment.

Bridging Voices helps set the tone for community expectations at UWL by encouraging connection, curiosity, and responsible participation from the very beginning of the student experience.
