Before Council Live

Live recording of Before Council Season 1, Episode 6

BEFORE COUNCIL LIVE @ UWL
Your City. Your Government. Know Before the Vote.

Conversations about local government, our community, and how it all works.

Ever wondered what actually happens at La Crosse City Hall? How decisions are made, what Common Council members do, or how residents can get involved?

Join Before Council for a four-part live recording series at UW-La Crosse, featuring conversations about local government, our community, and the people who help make it work.

Hosted by La Crosse resident Tony Ayala and former Common Council member Mac Kiel, Before Council is a podcast designed to make city government more accessible, understandable, and engaging.

The podcast follows the City of La Crosse's Judiciary & Administration and Finance & Personnel Committee meetings, helping residents understand what's being discussed before issues reach the full Common Council.

For this special campus series, Tony and Mac will record two episodes of Before Council live and together will also sit down for individual conversations with District 5 Common Council Member Olivia Stine and City Clerk Nikki Elsen.

The conversations will explore how city government operates, what happens behind the scenes at City Hall, and the experiences of people serving in local government.

The format is informal, conversational, and designed to encourage curiosity. Students and community members are welcome to attend, listen, ask questions, and learn more about the local government that serves them.
