2026 Floating LH Reminder

Floating Legal Holiday Reminder:

Due to the 4th of July legal holiday falling on a Saturday, employees will be issued a floating legal holiday to use during the following timeframe 7/01/2026 - 6/30/2027. For instructions on how to enter a leave request, please use this job aid.

While not a paid holiday, offices are permitted to close on the Friday before Independence Day, July 3, only if the entire department or unit votes unanimously to do so. Employees will need to utilize their floating holiday hours or other paid leave to remain compensated for the department closure. Directors should inform their Vice Chancellor if their office intends to close.

Employees choosing not to take paid leave time are expected to be in the office and on campus to keep the department open to visitors. All university buildings will remain open during normal business hours on July 3.
