Important Considerations for Summer Pay When You Are On a 9-Month Contract

Please read on for some information on Summer Pay & Benefits.

If you are on a 9-Month contract but will be getting any type of summer pay this year from any UW System insitition, you will want to review your benefit deductions and consider making some adjustments IF you participate in the following benefits: 

  1. 403B Supplemental Retirement (TIAA Creff and/or Fidelity)
  2. Wisconsin Deferred Compensation 457
  3. Health Savings Account (HSA)

Please note, that those deductions WILL take from any summer pay that you may recieve.  You can adjust your contributions prior to Summer Break and will then need to re-declare your contribution amounts at the beginnig of the Academic Year.  Please see below for how to complete the adjustments:

  1. 403B Supplemental Retirement 
  2. Wisconsin Deferred Compensation 457 Program
    • Update in your WDC Account
    • Call WDC representatives, they are available Monday through Friday between 7 am and 9 pm, and Saturday between 8 am and 4 pm at (877) 457-9327. Press 0 and follow the prompts to speak to a representative.
  3. Health Savings Account

Wisconsin Retirement Contributions and Flex Spending Account (FSA) Contributions will also be deducted from any summer earnings however, you are unable to adjust those as they are fixed.
