Here are some of the most common Open Enrollment questions HR receives:
Open Enrollment FAQ:
- Why don't I see State Group Life Insurance and/or Income Continuation Insurance in my Open Enrollment?
- Answer: They have never been part of open enrollment as employees remain enrolled until they choose to cancel the coverage or separate employment.
- If I don't want to make any changes, will my benefits stay the same?
- Answer: That depends. This year, if you participate in High Deductible Health Plan with HSA, Flexible Spending (Medical and/or Dependent Care), Medical Opt Out Incentive or the Accident Insurance for Spouse/Dependents, then YES, you need to re-declare your enrollments for 2026. If you do not participate in any of those benefits, then your elections will roll over into 2026 automatically.
- Where is my Confirmation Summary?
- Open Enrollment in My Insurance Benefits will remain open and active through October 31, 2025, even if you have already made and confirmed your elections for 2026.
- You can verify your 2026 benefit elections by logging into My Insurance Benefits and selecting the “Print Your Benefits” option. This will generate a summary document showing both your current benefit elections and those you’ve selected for 2026.
- A formal Confirmation Summary will be sent via email (from UW System Service Operations) on 11/18/2025.
