Setup New Employees for Success at UWL through NEO
Welcoming new talent to the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse is an exciting opportunity for the employees, departments, and the UWL community. One of the most impactful ways managers can setup new hires for success is by ensuring they attend New Employee Orientation (NEO). This foundational experience helps employees understand the broader mission of the university and see how their work contributes to something larger.
During NEO, department leaders share insightful overviews of their departments and how their teams support new employees, and work to advance UWL’s mission. NEO gives new employees an understanding of how UWL operates, who the key partners are, and how each role supports the overarching goals of the university. It’s a chance to build early connections, ask questions, and begin forming a sense of belonging from day one.
Starting in January 2026 NEO will be offered every other month. Managers should ensure their new hires are registered for one of the upcoming sessions:
- January
- March
- May
- July
Encouraging participation in NEO is an investment in your team’s long‑term engagement and success. When employees understand the university’s mission and the people who drive it, they are better equipped to contribute meaningfully and confidently from the start.
