Walking Safely in Winter - Slips, Trips, and Falls

The Wisconsin Department of Administration has published a ten-minute slip and fall prevention program titled “Walking in Winter."   The course is now live in Canvas and all UWL employees are encouraged to view the helpful reminders.  Please take advantage of this educational opportunity to help protect yourself from one of UWL’s leading causes of injury.

Take personal responsibility for your safety.  In addition, help others by reporting unsafe winter conditions on UWL grounds to Facilities Management Call Center.  The Call Center is staffed Monday – Friday, from 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at 608-785-8585.  For after-hours Facilities emergencies, call the University Police Dispatch Center at 608-789-9000.

View the Safety Net(work) newsletter about slips, trips, and falls published by the Department of Administration Bureau of State Risk Management here: Safety Net(work) newsletter. In fact, "did you know the State of Wisconsin made an extraordinary milestone, not seen in over 30 years, by not having ANY month in Fiscal Year 2021 reach 50 slip, trip and fall coded claims?!" See the newsletter for more.

Please reach out to Human Resources at hrinfo@uwlax.edu or x8013 should you have any questions or concerns.
