Posted 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2022

Murphy Library administration office student workers and Administrative Supervisor Ingrid Iverson. Clockwise from top left: Maggie Condon, Ingrid Iverson, Elenor Tezak, Luke Schneider, and Macie Ferguson.

Meet Murphy Library’s administration office student workers

Murphy Library would not be able to get by without the help of our awesome student workers. In particular, the students who work in the administration office are integral parts of the library and help manage the day-to-day activities that keep the library running, such as sending communications, helping with student payroll, answering questions, and even things like watering plants and recording temperatures throughout the library.

Get to know more about our administration office student workers below!

Meet Eleanor Tezak

Eleanor Tezak, Murphy Library Administration Office Student Worker

Eleanor Tezak is a sophomore pursuing a communications major with an emphasis in media. She started working at Murphy Library the beginning of her freshman year. In the administration office, she answers emails, inputs invoices, sends faxes and takes care of the plants around the library.

What has been your favorite part about working at Murphy Library?

The people. Everyone in the office is a riot to talk to, and it makes the workday fly by.

What are your future plans after leaving UWL?

I'm not quite sure yet.

What do you like to do outside of being a student?

I like to read, be in nature, and hang out with my friends.

What might surprise us about you?

I would love to be on a roller derby team.

Meet Maggie Condon

Maggie Condon, Murphy Library Administration Office Student Worker

Maggie Condon is a senior studying elementary-middle education. She has been working at Murphy Library since her freshman year. Maggie started working at the library through UWL First Scholars and later joined the administration office as the administrative specialist’s assistant.

What has been your favorite part about working at Murphy Library?

My favorite part about working at Murphy Library has been the odds and ends kind of tasks I have been given from recording temperatures in the most remote areas of the library (including the off-limits basement), to observing where people sit in the library to creating a collection of comics about two spiders that live in the library. I have also enjoyed the company in the administration office. There is always something fun going on in the office, and we are almost always laughing and sharing stories.

What are your future plans after leaving UWL?

After graduating from UWL, I plan on getting a job as a teacher for a couple of years before furthering my education and continuing my career in education as a curriculum designer or educational consultant.

What do you like to do outside of being a student?

Outside of the demands of being a student, I love having time to paint. I also love spending time outside and being with friends and family. And when all those things are put together, I am at my happiest.

What might surprise us about you?

In addition to my EME major, I have a music performance minor which I decided to do for fun. I love music and having opportunities to sing, so I wanted to continue that through college. Additionally, I am also studying American Sign Language at Viterbo with hopes to continue to learn the language.

Any other thoughts to add?

If you're interested in reading “The Adventures of Brian the Spider,” stop by the office! It's worth the read.

Meet Macie Ferguson

Macie Ferguson, Murphy Library Administration Office Student Worker

Macie Ferguson is a sophomore majoring in math education and started working in the library during the fall of her first year. In the administration office, she helps keep the budget and Murphy Learning Center Tutor payroll in order.

What are your future plans after leaving UWL?

I plan on becoming a math teacher for either middle or high school.

What do you like to do outside of being a student?

I like reading, playing video games, driving, talking with friends and writing.

What might surprise us about you?

I play two instruments.

Any other thoughts to add?

I haven't worked for Ingrid Iverson the entire time; in fact, this past summer was the first official time I've worked for her because she needed a helper, and I live locally. Before I worked with her, I was back with Mark Beckerjeck, helping him with Murphy Library's resources. Whenever I wasn't doing that, I'd either work on homework or sit up by Ingrid and the other student workers.

Meet Luke Schneider

Luke Schneider, Murphy Library Administration Office Student Worker

Luke Schneider is a first-year biochemistry major who started working in Murphy Library this fall. He primarily works in the administration office answering phone calls and responding to emails, but he also works in the interlibrary loan unit retrieving books and sending them to other libraries.

What has been your favorite part about working at Murphy Library?

My favorite part about working at Murphy Library is talking to my coworkers. The adults I work with never hesitate to give me advice for my future. On top of that, they are super flexible if something comes up last minute and I need to cancel.

What are your future plans after leaving UWL?

My future plans after leaving UWL are to go to either medical school or graduate school to work as either an infectious disease doctor or work in medical research.

What do you like to do outside of being a student?

I'm a big runner. I did track and field in high school, and I am currently on the Triathlon Team here at UWL. I like to run long distances, and it always makes my day better after doing so.

What might surprise us about you?

I love to solve puzzles! It's so rewarding to look back on the progress you made and how much you got done. My favorite puzzles are 3-D puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.
