REC free Sept. 5-9

The Recreational Eagle Center is hosting a "Free Week at the REC" and open house Sept. 5-9. Stop in to register for prizes, take a tour or work out. Free groupX fitness classes will be offered Tuesday through Friday. New strength and cardio equipment has been added to the Strength Center and track area. DigiCOPY to print jobs previously handled by Document Services

UW-L’s new printing vendor, DigiCOPY, is actively supporting campus departments by printing projects and more that were previously sent to Document Services. DigiCOPY’s online ordering system was presented on campus to approximately 150 attendees during several training sessions offered Aug. 17 & 18. Find out more about DigiCOPY services here. For color copies of 500 or more, contact Purchasing Agent Gerry Hyzer at ghyzer@uwlax.edu. Plain paper can no longer be purchased from Campus Stores. The Academic Advising Center has walk-in hours (no appointment necessary) Sept. 6-12 for students with general questions about their academic progress and plans. Public Scoping Meeting for parking ramp and Police and Parking Services building project to be held Sept. 15

An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) scoping meeting to present the proposed UW-La Crosse Parking Ramp and Police and Parking Services Building project will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, in the Ward Room, Cartwright Center. Free parking is available in nearby Commuter Lot C2, located adjacent to the UW-L stadium at the intersection of East Avenue and Pine Street. A description of the project will be presented. All attending will be given a reasonable opportunity to identify both orally and in writing any support, issues, or concerns they believe should be addressed during the EIS process for this proposed project. Construction is projected to begin in May 2012 with substantial completion by May 2013. An initial requirement of the EIS is the scoping process, with the intent of identifying at an early stage any potential impacts of the project on the physical, biological, social, historic and economic environments. Impacts that are identified during this process are incorporated into a Draft EIS which is made available to the public for a 45-day review period and is circulated to appropriate federal, state and local agencies. For consideration in the Draft EIS, submit comments at the meeting or in writing by Thursday, Sept. 22, to: Dennis L. The Fourth Edition of his book "Needs and Capacity Assessment Strategies for Health Education and Health Promotion" was published in August by Jones and Bartlett Learning, Burlington, Mass. He co-authored with Alyson Taub (New York University), Larry K. Olsen (A.T. Still University), and David Connell (Cambridge Research) the article "Key Questions for Conducting Role Delineation Research" published in the June issue of Global Health Promotion, the official journal of the International Union for Health Promotion and Education in France. In March, he co-authored "Workforce Development: Using Role Delineation Research Findings for Policy-Making and Professional Practice" with the same co-authors in Global Health Promotion. Christine Hippert, Sociology/Archaeology, published  "Women's Spaces, Gender Mainstreaming and Development Priorities: Popular Participation as Gendered Work in Rural Bolivia" in the Women's Studies International Forum 34: 498-508).
