UWL to hold inaugural Giving Day Dec. 1
Ever wondered how you could make an immediate impact at UWL? Ever wondered, for instance, how you could support a scholarship that could help a deserving student earn a degree? Or how you could provide a meal for a hungry student? Or how a few dollars could help boost a program you’ve always wanted to embrace?
Well, your chance is almost here.
On Tuesday, Dec. 1, UWL is celebrating UWL Giving Day. All members of the UWL family — alumni, students, employees and friends of the university — are encouraged to come together to provide financial support to programs near and dear to their hearts.
This is the inaugural year for the 24-hour day of giving at UWL.
“Giving Day is very powerful and speaks to the immediate impact of the UWL family. It provides students, friends, families and alumni a chance to band together as a collective group, and in a short amount of time, to give back to the university and the areas they care about most,” says Taylor Wilmoth, senior advancement specialist. “I would also like to extend a huge thank-you to our generous matching gift donors, and to all those who will support UWL on Giving Day.”
Matching gifts maximize value
Multiple donors have offered challenge funds to inspire others to join them in providing opportunities for students and faculty. This year, more than $30,000 in challenge funds are waiting to be unlocked. Gifts of all sizes make a difference, especially as we all come together to make an impact.
Annually, over 4,000 members of the UWL family make gifts to support students. The goal for this year’s one-day challenge is 500 donors.
Lots of funds, ways to give
Supporters will have lots of choices, too — in both funds to support and ways to give. Each college has targeted funds it hopes donors will support. UWL will send a series of emails in the coming weeks with instructions about how to support various initiatives.
“This day is really a chance for Eagles all over the world to come together and celebrate UWL and the impact that can be made through giving.” Wilmoth says.
Get involved by becoming a social ambassador, a digital volunteer that helps spread the word about UWL Giving Day. We provide all the content you'll need, or you can create your own. Plus, all ambassadors will be provided UWL merchandise to show off on your social accounts.
