Take a lap around the new, $49M facility

Posted 7:02 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023

The Fieldhouse officially opened Jan. 23.

UW-La Crosse's new Fieldhouse has been many years in the making. Students voted to help fund the project in 2014, and it was approved by the Wisconsin Building Commission in 2020. Now, after two-plus years of construction, the facility is finally open. From the NCAA-standard track, to the modern locker rooms, to meeting rooms outfitted with the latest technology — everything inside is state of the art. Take a moment to explore for yourself and see why the Fieldhouse can only be described as a game-changer.

A second-floor walking track rings the 144,000-square-foot facility.
The 200-meter track has eight sprint lanes and six running lanes. Netting can drop down to separate the track from the infield, allowing both spaces to be used simultaneously.

UWL's track and field teams began practicing in the Fieldhouse in December.

The Fieldhouse will host a variety of events and user groups, including track and field competitions, student recreation, and exercise and sport science research.
