Check out these helpful student voter registration and election reminders

Election Day is November 3, 2020! There’s still plenty of ways to both register and vote! Here’s some helpful information to make sure your voice is heard:

Can I still register to vote?

  • Yes, you can still register to vote at City Hall until Friday, October 30. City Hall is open from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. to register and vote early.  Both can be done in the same day.
  • You can also register on election day at your polling place between 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
    • On-campus students, your polling place is Mitchell Hall.
    • Off-campus students, please check out https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/ to find your polling place. You are only allowed to vote in your designated location.
  • What you need to register: As a student, you will need your Driver’s License or State ID, and your WI Voter Verification document from WINGS. This document is located under other resources on the bottom right hand side of the page. The document can either be printed or viewed on your phone when you go to register. Be sure that your address on the verification is correct before heading to register.

*** Registering and voting are two separate processes. You will need to register before you vote. The following information only applies after you are registered. You can still register on the day of the election prior to voting. You will just need to bring the documentation above and might need to wait in line longer than voters already registered. ***

How can I vote?

  • Absentee:
    • You are still able to request your absentee ballot until October 29th. Ballots will be mailed out within 24 hours of your request.
    • You will need to make sure that your ballot is complete and signed along with the witness information for your vote to count.
    • Ballots can be mailed back to City Hall or dropped-off in the drop box no later than 5 p.m. on Election Day. Note: In Wisconsin, mailed ballots will only be counted if received by end of day the Nov 3 elections. This means, a mailed-in ballot may run the risk of not being counted, no matter the post mark. As the day draws close, it might be best to drop the ballot off at City Hall or vote in person if you are able.
    • If you need to drop your ballot off after 5 p.m. on Election Day, you can drop it at your polling place before 8 p.m. to have it counted. To find your polling place, check out https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/.
  • Early Voting:
    • You are able to vote early at City Hall until Friday, October 30. City Hall is open from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. for both early voting and registering to vote. Both can be done the same day.
    • To vote early, please bring your state ID if you are from Wisconsin, or your Student ID if you are an out of state student registered in Wisconsin.
  • On Election Day:
    • Voting on November 3rd will take place from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. You will be able to cast your vote as long as you are in line before 8 p.m.
    • On-campus students, your polling place is Mitchell Hall.
    • Off-campus students, please check out https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/ to find your polling place. You are only allowed to vote in your designated location.
    • To vote in person on Election Day, you will need your Driver’s License or State ID for In-State Students, or your Student ID for out of state students.
    • Curbside voting will be available for anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, or immune compromised. Please call the phone number outside of your polling site for someone to bring you your ballot. You will want to have your ID ready for the Election Worker to check.
