‘Love/Sick’ portrays dark, amusing look at romance

The UWL Department of Theatre Arts will present “Love/Sick” by John Cariani. “Love/Sick” is a look at what happens after we fall in the love and the endearing muck that follows. The production runs at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 5-6, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday Nov. 6-7 in Frederick Theatre, Morris Hall, 16th and State streets.

“Love/Sick” is a collection of nine whimsical and slightly twisted vignettes on love, marriage and grocery-store serendipity. Set on a Friday night in an alternative suburban reality, it explores the pain and joy that comes with being in love. Full of imperfect lovers and dreamers, “Love/Sick” is an unromantic comedy for the romantic in everyone.

Ticket sales begin Monday, Nov. 1. Box office hours run from 1-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and one hour before the show in the Center for the Arts. Due to a technical issue with the AudienceView ticketing system, patrons will not be able to purchase tickets online for “Love/Sick.” Tickets are $8 for UWL students, $18 for other students and seniors; and $20 for others. For tickets or more information call 608.785.6696.

The Department of Theatre Arts will adhere to the guidelines set forth by the university and La Crosse County Health Department regarding masking and social distancing.  At this time, all patrons will be required to wear a mask while in any campus building including during theatre performances. Any changes to this policy will be posted on the Theatre’s webpage and/or in the box office lobby area.
