Seven teams baked cookies to garner the "Golden Spatula" award and raised $475 for a student scholarship at this year's Organization for Campus Women Cook-IE OFF fundraiser.
Seven teams baked cookies to garner the "Golden Spatula" award and raised $475 for a student scholarship at this year's Organization for Campus Women Cook-IE OFF fundraiser.
Team leaders sold tickets for $5 each to those who wanted to help judge the contest. Judges sampled cookies from each of the teams, voted on their top choice and competed in a raffle for door prizes.
This year's award-winning team was from the College of Business Administration. The prize-winning cookie: Chocolaty Butter Awesome Cookie, also known as Islerice.
Karla Stanek, last year's winner, passed off the Golden Spatula to this year's winning team leader, Betsy Knowles, and baker, Martina J. Skobic.
Other teams competing and their leaders were:
- Human Resources, Joy Gutknecht
- Multicultural Student Services, Barbara Stewart
- Physics and Astronomy, Shelly Lesher
- Career Services and Academic Advising Center, Karla Stanek
- Students Affairs, Paula Knudson
- Upward Bound, Kate Oganowski
Raffle winners were Janet Abnet, Mary Dixon, Barb Eide, Kathy Ring and Stanek.
"There was so much enthusiasm that the words 'cupcake war' were in the air for next year," says Karmin Van Domelen, OCW member and one of the event organizers.
