Concert will feature a unique collaboration with a UWL Art Department.
A UW-La Crosse band concert will feature a unique collaboration with a UWL Art Department faculty member.
The UWL Symphonic Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, in Annett Recital Hall, Center for the Arts, 333 N. 16th St. Admission is free.

The concert will feature a unique collaboration with Associate Lecturer Dewayne Wrencher who will show a graphic video presentation while the band performs “Blue and Green Music” by Sam Hazo. The piece was based on artist Georgia O’Keeffe’s 1921 painting of the same name. O’Keeffe created the artwork upon the idea that music could be translated into something for the eye. Hazo created the composition as a means to translate it back into something for the ear.
The concert will also feature student conductors Josh Beron and Andrew Jones. Additional pieces to be performed include: “A Festival Prelude” by Alfred Reed, “Joy Revisited” by Frank Ticheli, “Night on Fire” by John Mackey and “American Big Top” by Brian Balmages.
The Symphonic Band is open to student representing all academic disciplines across campus. The ensemble is directed by Music Professor Tammy Fisher.
