The UWL Diabetes Prevention Pilot Program began last spring, says Kim Radtke, LEHP Director. “Participants in the program are seeing improvements in body weight and blood levels,” she says.
The 12-month program includes a CDC-approved curriculum with training provided by lifestyle coaches and through group support. The next group will start in January 2019. Their overall goal is a 5 percent weight loss through eating less and exercising more, along with stress management and other long-term maintenance techniques.
