Sink your teeth into rich Romanian baklava or watch traditional dances from countries around the world at UW-La Crosse’s 46th annual International Banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 16.
International students will cook ethnic dishes from nine different countries, and provide entertainment including dance, music and a fashion show featuring traditional clothing.
The banquet shows that UW-L’s 400 international students do much more than study on campus, says Hoang Vo, international student from Vietnam who will serve as emcee.
“A lot of the performers have prepared for several months,” he explains. “They’re really professional and exceptional.” Vo said that’s why tickets typically sell out a few days after they go on sale.
The Office of International Education and International Student Organization organize the event. After expenses are covered, money raised supports the ISO.
Tickets are $12 for UW-L faculty, staff and students and $16 for others. Children age 6 and under are free, but must have a ticket. For tickets contact the Cartwright Center Information Counter at 608.785.8877.
