Club planning chemistry magic show Oct. 27
Area children can discover the magic of chemistry at a Halloween Magic Show. “Tricks or Science” will be held from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, on the first floor of Cowley Hall at UW-La Crosse, 1707 Pine St.
UWL undergraduates will be hosting new hands-on demonstrations targeting physics and biochemistry, such as extracting DNA from fruit. They will also do larger demonstrations centered around burning metals, like fireworks, and exploding balloons.
Kids are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes. The program is free, but participants are encouraged to bring canned and non-perishable foods for WAFER. The event is sponsored by the UWL Undergraduate Chemistry and Biochemistry Club.
