Jeans Day is Friday, Aug. 31; wear your LIVEMAROON gear!
UW-L is one of many local organizations that participate in the monthly “Jeans Day” sponsored by the La Crosse Tribune. One or two local charities or organizations are designated each month to receive our donations. In return for a $1 (suggested donation) UW-L employees may wear jeans to work Friday, Aug. 31. Wear your LIVEMAROON shirt too. You may contribute even if you don’t wear jeans. Let’s show our community how generous we can be!
The charities receiving the August contributions are:
- “Steppin’ Out in Pink”- A walk for local breast cancer research and awareness. This event was the idea of a local breast cancer survivor who wanted to do something for the cause but wanted the funds to stay local.
- American Heart Association – The Go Red for Women Campaign in La Crosse educates women about heart disease and prevention. Heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death in women over the age of 20, killing more women each year than all types of cancer combined. This campaign raises funds for this critical community outreach, as well as for research aimed at improvements in women’s cardiovascular prevention and treatment.

Current active committees include honors/scholarship/fundraising, membership, newsletter, program, symposium and Y-Tribute. Members are welcome to attend monthly meetings.
