Students participate in jazz master class

The UWL Center for the Arts was swinging on Friday, Sept. 15. Students took part in a jazz master class led by John Raymond & Real Feels. “It was awesome,” says Seth Heerts, a sophomore trumpet player. The jazz trio is making a name for itself through its recent album. They’ve been touring Wisconsin and Minnesota, stopping at universities to share their talents and knowledge. “It’s a gift,” says Heerts. “Anything that can help you grow as a player is wonderful.” During the session, the students showcased two songs they’ve been working on, then heeded advice from the trio. They focused on creating a jazz feeling and finding their groove as a group.
