The UW-La Crosse Student Association honored UW System President Kevin P. Reilly. Student senators gave Reilly the Higher Education Advocate of the Year Award at their Wednesday, April 25, student senate meeting.
For the past four years the UW-L Student Association has awarded an Advocate of the Year to someone who has shown an outstanding commitment to higher education and specifically to UW-L. Reilly was chosen to receive the award for his leadership of the UW System during “rigorous times,” says Student Association President Madisson Heinze.
“We are honoring President Reilly not only because he has been a strong proponent of the UW System in a tumultuous political and financial time in our state's history, but his leadership, guidance, and voice have provided an effective model of professional advocacy to our student body and our institution,” says Heinze
Reilly has served as the UW System’s top administrator since 2004.
Past recipients of the Higher Education Advocate of the Year award include La Crosse Tribune Publisher Rusty Cunningham; State Sen. Jennifer Shilling, D-La Crosse; and UW System Regent and La Crosse Attorney Brent Smith.
