La Crosse Jazz Orchestra will perform more than two hours of big band classics July 10 in Grand River Station.
[/caption]Gertrude Salzer Gordon (GSG) Jazz in the Park will hold its second annual big band dance at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 10. This year's venue is La Crosse's Grand River Station, 315 S. Third St. The beautiful cobblestone vast interior has great acoustics and plenty of room to dance or set up chairs and listen.
The newly-renamed La Crosse Jazz Orchestra will perform more than two hours of big band classics recreating the sounds of Benny Goodman, Glen Miller, the Dorsey’s, Count Basie and many others. In addition to the swing fox trots of the ‘40s, the band will perform an exciting mixture of Latin, waltzes, a polka or two, and some rock ‘n’ roll.
Get there early for dance tips from Molly and Stan, leaders of the River City Ballroom Dancers. They will offer guided instruction beginning 6:45 p.m.
This event is the run up to the fourth annual Riverside Jazz Party on July 17.
