Event April 16 is the best way to taste the culture of the world while living in La Crosse.
The best way to taste the culture of the world while living in La Crosse is UWL’s annual International Banquet. The 51st International Banquet will be Saturday, April 16, at UW-La Crosse’s Cartwright Center.
The annual event, organized by UWL International Education & Engagement, features entertainment from UWL international and domestic students, and the community. It also includes a buffet-style dinner based on international student recipes. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the banquet runs from 6:30-9 p.m. in Valhalla, Cartwright Center-Gunning Addition.
“The annual banquet is an opportunity to celebrate the rich diversity and culture international students bring to UWL and the La Crosse community,” says Susan Niedzwiecki-Pham, assistant director for Study Abroad.
UWL currently has about 200 international students.
For the first time this year the banquet will include a Global Citizenship Reception from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Ward Room. The reception offers a more informal way to meet and interact with both international students and those with international interests.
The reception will include internationally-themed delicacies. Poster displays featuring international experiences and projects from students, faculty and community members will be on display in State Room. Anyone interested in submitting a poster presentation or display highlighting reasearch, projects and/or experiences with global reach may submit a proposal on or before Wednesday, April 6, online.
The reception is sponsored in part by the Arrowhead Model United Nations Conference.
