Catherine Lavallée-Welch, director of Murphy Library, has been named a Fellow of the Special Libraries Association.
SLA is an international association serving more than 8,000 members in the information profession, including corporate, academic and government librarians and information specialists.
Fellowship in SLA is a rare honor. No more than five people per year receive the designation. The award recognizes past, present and future service to the association and to the profession.
Lavallée-Welch is active in and well-recognized for her contributions to the library profession. She has held several offices in SLA in chapters, divisions and association-level committees. In 2013, she served as chair of the Academic Division.
Lavallée-Welch was the library director at the University of South Florida in Lakeland, Fla., prior to beginning that role at UW-L May 1, 2013.
