New and returning UWL students will move in Friday, Sept. 4, and Saturday, Sept. 5. The total number of students coming on campus will be more than 3,500. To reduce traffic issues, half of the students will move in the first day and the other half on the second day.
Faculty and staff should be prepared for increased traffic on and around campus as well as an increase in volume in parking lots.
Important parking changes
All residential and commuter lots will be used for student and family parking during these two days. All faculty and staff should plan to park in Commuter Lot 11, east of the stadium, on Friday instead of their regular assigned lot. Those who park in a lot other than their assigned lot will not be ticketed Friday.
All streets around and on campus will be congested. Have patience, be prepared for detours and different traffic patterns. East Avenue will become two, north-bound lanes from the C-3 lot to La Crosse Street on Friday. There will be no parking on Pine Street, 17th Street and Farwell Street.
Patience and assistance in welcoming new students to UWL is appreciated. Those who are available to help greet new students and/or assist with move-in at any of the eleven residence halls can contact Lisa Weston at lweston@uwlax.edu for more information.
