The UW-La Crosse vocal jazz ensembles “Collegiates” and “La Capella” will give a concert of musical hits from the 1930s.
The UW-La Crosse vocal jazz ensembles “Collegiates” and “La Capella” will give a concert of musical hits from the 1930s. The ensembles go back in time at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, in Annett Recital Hall in the UWL Center for the Arts, 16th and Vine streets.
The UWL singers will perform as an old-time radio show broadcast from a fictitious radio station, KVJE 160 “Jazz Radio on the Mississippi,” and will include 1930s-era commercials. Ensemble arrangements and solos by composers George Gershwin, Cole Porter and Irving Berlin will be featured. UWL Music Professor Gary Walth directs the ensembles.
The concert is free, but seating is limited.
