UW-L Senior Melissa Moss will take over the UW System "@UWpowersMe" Twitter account to represent the campus in an ongoing Knowledge Powers Wisconsin social media campaign. In an effort to highlight the university’s contributions to the UW System, Moss will post tweets and photos highlighting what makes UW-L special. She plans to include her experiences as news editor of the student-run newspaper, The Racquet, a media writer for the University Communications Office, along with events happening on campus throughout the week. Moss is an English major from Holmen. Twitter bird. Twitter users can follow Moss @UWpowersMe The @UWpowersMe Twitter account allows students, faculty, alumni — even chancellors — an opportunity to take control for one week, telling their UW story as only they can. It is a component of the social media arm of “Knowledge Powers Wisconsin,” a campaign that highlights how the UW System powers economic growth in Wisconsin, improving the state’s competitive edge by leveraging human capital, supporting business and industry and strengthening local communities. The @UWpowersMe Twitter account’s first guest tweeter from UW-Platteville kicked things off Feb. 11-18. “The @UWpowersMe account is brand new, but the early response has been very positive,” said UW System spokesman David F. Giroux. “We’re creating a new public space for diverse UW voices. Students can share stories about their educational experiences. Faculty members can talk about their rewarding careers as educators and scientists. Alumni can illustrate how UW helped prepare them for successful careers.” If you have suggestions or photos to contribute to making UW-L stand out, send them to Moss at moss.meli@uwlax.edu.
