UWL students, faculty and staff will shout out their relief and excitement of another successful year of classes coming to a close.
UW-La Crosse students will join together in a campus-wide scream to celebrate the end of the semester and the start of finals.
UWL students, faculty and staff will join for a campus-wide scream as a part of the Wellness Resource Center’s Spring Spectacular. Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Paula Knudson along with Student Association leadership will lead the fourth campus-wide Finals Scream at 1 p.m. Friday, May 6, at the south side of the REC entrance. The public is invited to watch and participate.
The Finals Scream kicks off the Spring Spectacular, an all-afternoon student party that includes food and drinks, games, sports, contests, prizes and more. “Our students are here to shout out their relief and excitement for finishing another successful year of classes before they buckle down to finish the semester during finals week," explains Kate Noelke, UWL Wellness Coordinator. “The Campus Scream is a great, loud exhale for UWL."
Librarians at UWL’s Murphy Library started the Finals Scream four years ago. “We try to provide a little diversion from the seriousness of finals week,” says Outreach Librarian Stefan Smith. “In addition to things like the scream, we provide free coffee, therapy dogs, and this year, with the Wellness Resource Center, yoga, guided meditation and other stress-relieving activities.”
The Wellness Resource Center at UWL is providing a central point for all finals-week activities. A listing of events taking place during the end of the semester and finals week can be found at http://www.uwlax.edu/Wellness.
