Meet Jason Anfinsen, our new Student Engagement and Outreach Librarian
Hello! My name is Jason Anfinsen, but students, faculty, and staff know me as Information Jason. I am ecstatic to join the Murphy Library team as the Student Engagement and Outreach Librarian Assistant Professor! I am thrilled to be the promotional noisemaker for Murphy Library and can't wait to collaborate with UWL students and stakeholders on events, programs, and engagement extravaganzas. I am excited to teach information literacy with rock star librarians and innovate outreach initiatives with a library staff of all-stars at Murphy Library. Let's gooo!
My background is in radio, theatre, and broadcasting. I bring over a decade of experience as an information professional in modern art museums, arts research libraries, and university libraries. For the past six-plus years, I have served as an associate professor, research and instruction librarian in the Florida College System at Broward College and Seminole State College of Florida. I am a 3X alumnus of Florida State University and a 2X graduate of the FSU School of Information. I appreciate this amazing opportunity and acknowledge that it is a great honor to become part of the educational family at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Here's my introductory icebreaker: two truths and one lie. I performed improv comedy on stages in London, Toronto, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur. I worked in New York City as a production intern on the 5th Anniversary Special of Late Night with Conan O'Brien. I am a 16X NBA Slam Dunk Champion.
