The Jail Literacy Program and Supporting Incarcerated Writers: Mistakes Made & Lessons Learned with Dr. Ryan Friesen

This presentation will begin with an overview of the many years of successful cooperation and the wealth of meaningful experiences that have come from the English Department's Jail Literacy Program (JLP). Dr. Friesen will share specific experiences that have shaped the program, and mention the benefactors who have supported the JLP. The second part of the talk will focus on a less successful personal experience of trying, and failing, to provide assistance to incarcerated writers and entrepreneurs in recent months, ending with a set of lessons learned from these interactions.
