Prescription for AI: Updating Class Policies and Guidelines

Part of Professional Development Week for Instructors sponsored by CATL

9:00 - 10:30am = Overview of AI in Class Policy and Guidelines
Presenters: Bryan Kopp, CATL Specialist
While AI promises to be a cure-all, it can also be toxic to learning at the wrong dosage. When, how much, and for what purposes should your students use—and not use—AI? This session will help you update your class policies and guidelines to promote effective and responsible uses of today’s AI tools.

10:30 – 10:45 = Break

10:45 – 12:00 = Workshop: AI Integration Charrette
Presenter: Bryan Kopp, CATL Specialist
This workshop is designed for instructors who are trying to integrate AI into their course and want to spend some time in conversation with others figuring out how to make it work. You can bring an existing AI integration (assignment or process or student tool) to refine or just come with your ideas. At the end of the session, you should have designed an assignment, process, or support for using AI in class in the fall.
